fashion week essentials

two days ago i posted a story about the coveteur on my blog. today i found out that they did a little "special" and teamed up with vogue for new york fashion week. it's called fashion week essentials: a portfolio. and it's about what the key players think is necessary in order to survive their grueling schedules over the ten days of fashion week. they also asked them to assemble their essentials for a portrait shot by photographer jake rosenberg. the result is again stunning! here some examples, for the whole story and more pictures go to vogue.com.

this is.. the coveteur

yesterday i stumbled on this quite new site, the coveteur. the site was founded by erin kleinberg and stephanie mark, and taked you inside the closets of some of today's most recognized global tastemakers, one item at a time. it's a joy to look around, and the site provides a lot of nice pictures, made by the up and coming photographer jake rosenberg, which are very inspiring. the site also has a nice detail pictures where the owners tell their story of the items. the coveteur shows what you've always wanted to see, the behind the scenes and intimate spots of today's trendsetters. i love it! here some pictures of items i really like.

"it's more interesting to have just a picture of a small detail - then you can dream all the rest around it. because when you see the whole thing, what is there to imagine?" - dries van noten

you look milky today!

there's discovered a new way to make clothing. namely with milk!

what it is?
FIN is known for its soft, draped fabrics, and luxury fashion items. yet the collection is totally human and environmentally responsible. they use raw materials like bamboo, silk where the silkworm is spared, and wool form young sheep. the olivia dress from FIN is one-hundred percent made out of milk proteins. the fabric of this exists out of nettings, which is made by a special process of milk proteins. environmentally aware, because in the manufacture of this milk fabric they use less water than in cotton production. FIN does not stop at one garment: the brand has in their entire spring-summer collection milk protein garments. for more information about the eco-collection of FIN click here.

why it's cool?
i think the milk dress from FIN is cool just because it's made out of milk! also because it's a new way to wear clothes that are less damaging to the environment. it shows that there are a lot more things to discover on how we can live more eco-friendly, with day-to-day product.

"pimp" my room

as you know i've moved a little while ago to my new room. i thought with all my stuff in it, it would look great, but i'm not really satisfied. it still looks quit empty and dull. so when i have the time i'm going to try to "pimp" (actually i hate that word) my room so i will feel more at home. here some pictures of interior details that i like, and might try myself.

john altman, spread the love

what it is?
the john altman organization is a organization who try to create things that make the world a better, happier place and have as little impact on the environment as possible. they do this in memory of john altman. when they met him on baker beach san francisco, he was just a man with a beard and an infectious grin strolling along the beach with a tray of cookies, wearing nothing but an apron and a pair of dog-eared flip flops. after they tasted the cookies, which were the best they ever tasted, they asked john if they could take them home. 'sure dude' he said, 'spread the love' and also gave them the recipe. his gift showed precisely the measure of the man to pass on his life's work to them, and ask for nothing in return except to make other people's lives better. now the organization make cookies, wine and even a book about how you can bake your way to happiness, all 100% natural and fairtrade. they like to think that's what john would have wanted.  as well on the site you can enter pladges and when a certain amount of people enter these pledges the organization will donate something to charities. places where you can buy the cookies are the alberthein and the coffee company.

why it's cool?
i just really like the whole story behind the organization. if you read the story the only thing you want to do is spread the love! the pledges are as well a really cool idea because now people can do more than only buy the products. what is also cool is that the organization is dutch! who would have thought!?
